LESSON 3. TALK TO AN EDITOR

1. What is your favourite source of information? How do you usually learn what is going on in the world?

Do you share the news with your friends\family?

What is the last piece of news your friend told you?

(Did they tell you that they were going to have on-line classes the next day? Did they tell you that they had already watched all the films about Sherlock Holmes?)

2. Watch the video to revise Reported Speech:

• What verbs introduce reported speech?
• What tenses are used in the sentences with direct speech and reported speech?
• Do we always need to change tenses when we report somebody’s words?

3. Do the exercises to practise reported speech (statements).

4. Watch the video again and pay attention to reported questions.

• What verbs are used to report questions?
• What are the differences between direct and reported questions?
• What tenses are used in direct and reported questions?
• What are reported questions – questions or statements?

5. Do the exercises to practise reported questions.

6. Listen to the dialogue. Write the dialogue in the reported speech, make a photo and send it to your teacher.
