Albert Einstein was born on March 14th 1879 at Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany. He attended elementary school at the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich. He enjoyed classical music and played the violin.

Russian chemistry professor Dmitri Mendeleev published his periodic table in 1869. Mendeleev’s table, dated March 1 1869, was his first published version. He constructed his tables by listing the elements in rows or columns in order of atomic weight and starting a new row or column when the characteristics of the elements began to repeat.

Marie Curie, Maria Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw on November 7, 1867, the daughter of a secondary-school teacher. She received a general education in local schools and some scientific training from her father. She became involved in a students’ revolutionary organization and found it prudent to leave Warsaw then for Cracow, which at that time was under Austrian rule.
